Although Unvalidated Pain focuses on losing a beloved Soldier to suicide, certainly our service members aren't the only ones suffering from suicidality. This article looks at the high rate of suicide among lawyers (who would have guessed?) and mentions a number of qualities that run through the military: "self-reliance, ambition, perfectionism, and competitiveness." While these are good qualities in anyone, and great qualities for our service members, they also can keep a person isolated when depression sets in.
