Last fall I was blessed with a Wounded Warrior Project opportunity to attend a writer's retreat. This April we are suppose to attend another and bring something we have been working on for the past 8 months.
I had a difficult time determining what to work on. There were so many options and ideas floating around in my head. But, I finally chose one not very long ago - to do a documentary on the state of mental health care for veterans in El Paso.
It is a huge project, that I'm sure will not be completed by April, but that I hope will have a good start on by then. This coming month (March) I hope to get much of the filming done, but don't even have confirmation from those I hope to interview!! Wow, how do people do this every day for a living? It is very stressful.
Wish me luck and hope that light can be shed on the challenges faced by so many veterans in seeking help for mental health care!
