I just got this email from IAVA. I hope my own story and voice will be heard in a little more than a week!
"If you didn’t see 60 Minutes last Sunday, make some time to watch Clay Hunt’s story this weekend.
Clay served in the Marines in Afghanistan and in Iraq, where he earned a Purple Heart. When he came home, he helped start Team Rubicon and was an active member of Ride 2 Recovery – two amazing organizations. He also stormed the hill with IAVA in 2010 and was a critical part of our Ad Council PSA program.
On March 31, 2011, Clay committed suicide at his home in Houston. Losing Clay was a huge blow to vets across the country that he served with and served for.
For Clay, for every vet of every generation, IAVA is launching our annual leadership development and advocacy campaign, Storm the Hill, March 18-22. During this important week, a team of veterans from across the country, representing over 150,000 IAVA members, will storm Capitol Hill to ask our nation’s representatives to draw a line in the sand. Veteran suicide needs to end now.
If veteran suicide has affected your life, tell us about your experience on IAVA’s Facebook page. Armed with your stories, together we will challenge the country to step up for our community.
We can’t afford to wait any longer."
